The registration fee is usually $150 but we are happy to waive that fee for you to participate.
In years past we've had over 1200 students attend these events.
This event will be held in our BYU–Hawaii Aloha Center Ballroom.
Here is a map of where it is located. You can add your address to the top left corner of this link to get directions to the Aloha Center Ballroom. There will be signs and people directing traffic to the event when you arrive. You may park in our Admin parking lot which is located under the solar panel-shaded area as you arrive.
No, unfortunately, the BYU–Hawaii Fall Career and Graduate Fair will only run for three hours from 10:00 - 1:00 pm, on October 3, 2024, and will not include a visit/ticket to the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Many of our guests will choose to stay at the Marriott Courtyard North Shore. Here is the link, Marriott Courtyard North Shore. You can message the Marriott to ask for the BYU-Hawaii rate for your stay at this time. Your organization will need to be confirmed as a participant in the fair at this time.
Great question. We have tables that will be set up for your use that are 6' long and will accommodate two people from your organization. If there are more than that attending please let us know and we can add more table (booth) space for you.
Our career and graduate fairs usually host between 50 - 80 organizations. Graduate schools and employers will participate in this fair as we try and assist both those student demographics that want to continue their education and those that are searching for their first professional work experience post-graduation.
The event is usually three hours from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and will be held in our Aloha Center Ballroom here on campus.
No, having jobs and internships is not a requirement to participate in the fair. The goal of the fair is of course to help our students network and find career, internship and graduate school support. We welcome those opportunities but understand that your organization may not have jobs available at the time of the fair. We do appreciate your participation and consideration of future opportunities. We look forward to our students networking with visiting organizations and understanding how they can learn more about job, and internship opportunities as well as graduate school application support.
Yes, this event will be in person. We will not be hosting a virtual option for this event and are happy to have everyone come and visit with us on campus.
Please plan on coming to set up between 8:00 am - 9:00 am on the morning of October 3. We will invite some students that are Career Certified (on-campus professional development certificate) to come in at 9:30 am before the fair begins at 10:00 am. These students have practiced their elevator pitches, worked on their resumes, and completed a professional development course to receive their career certification. Please be set up and ready by 9:30 am to meet with these students.
Yes, we will prepare a sack lunch for attendees. It will include a sandwich, fruit, cookie, drink, and chips. The lunch will be delivered to your table. Please make sure that you register everyone on your team who plans on attending so we can prepare enough meals. If you have any allergies please make sure to let us know by emailing acs@byuh.edu.
Yes, if you want to send your swag to us before the event please send it to, BYU–Hawaii #1978, 55-220 Kulanui St. Laie, Hawaii 96762, care of Keni Kalama. This will be held in the Career Services office for you and will be set on your table when you arrive at the event.
The registration and approval process of the Career Services policy, states that employers must have an "employer-employee" relationship in which there are no fees associated with becoming an employee of the organization other than professional licensure fees that may be necessary.
Ineligible providers may include some of the following businesses.
- Home-based businesses.
- Personal services that do not require a bachelor's degree, i.e. babysitter, housekeeper, temp. labor, etc.
- Network marketing organizations and franchise business opportunities; such organizations are those that engage in one or more of the following practices:
- Sponsorship of an individual in setting up his/her own business for selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own business, i.e. direct sales organizations.
- Requirement of an initial investment from an individual, with the organization itself serving as an umbrella or parent corporation. The initial investment may be direct payment of a fixed fee, payment to attend an orientation or training session, and/or purchase of a starter kit.
- Compensation is often or exclusively in the form of straight commission, fees from others under their sponsorship in the organization, and/or a percentage of sales generated by others.
- Commission-only positions.
- Positions that require door-to-door or networking sales and anything that can be construed as part of an employer network marketing stratagem.
